Robbie Coleman will skipper the University of Canberra Brumbies when they head to the World Club 10s in Singapore on Tuesday.
Coleman heads a 16-man squad which also features Wallaby fullback Jesse Mogg, UC Brumbies 50-gamer Andrew Smith and highly regarded sevens specialist, Jordan Smiler.
The last time the UC Brumbies took part in a shortened version of the game was late 2013 when they were crowned World Club Sevens Champions in London.
With Singapore a strong candidate to host a new Super Rugby side in the near future, Head Coach Stephen Larkham said it was a great opportunity for the side to perform on the world stage.
“This tournament is another fantastic opportunity for the Brumbies to showcase their skills to an international audience,” Larkham said.
“We have some huge pool games against teams from Italy and the UK which all the boys are excited about. Last year we tasted success in sevens and I’ll be keen to see how the boys transfer their skills to 10’s in Singapore.
“We’ve picked a competitive team for the tournament, with Wallaby fullback Jesse Mogg, Aussie Sevens star Robbie Coleman and Brumbies 50-gamer Andrew Smith all named to play.”
A draw for the tournament was released on Tuesday with the UC Brumbies pitted against Italian club Petraca, Cardiff Blues and the Asia Pacific Dragons in their initial pool matches.
