Christian Lealiifano will start his first game of the 2014 Super Rugby season on Friday night.
The Wallabies inside back has been slotted into the backline in place of Pat McCabe, who will start from the bench.
Director of Rugby Laurie Fisher said Lealiifano was world class and would do a job for his side on Anzac Day.
“Christian has had three games off the bench, he’s growing in confidence. Patty has done a fantastic job for us but it’s probably the best time for us to see where Christian is up to,” Fisher said.
“It’s important for us to have a ball player there in that position. He’s shown himself to be a big game player – through the Lions series and the back end of our own season he proved he’s a big game player.
“I think at second receiver, Christian gives a few more ball playing opportunities and gives Pup more options whether to run or pass. Since his recovery, he shows a bit more on his feet and can challenge the line. “
Lealiifano was the UC Brumbies top point scorer in 2014 and will resume those responsibilities from close range against the Chiefs. Nic White will take longer range shots.
He scored a scintillating try for the UC Brumbies during last year’s Super Rugby Final in Hamilton and having played with many of the current Chiefs for Waikato in the ITM Cup, had an intricate knowledge of the way they play.
The UC Brumbies face the Chiefs on Anzac Day, 5.30pm kick off at GIO Stadium.
