Come and Try Rugby Centres
Brumbies Rugby is coordinating 'Come and Try Rugby Centres' aimed at giving participants a taste of Rugby Union before they get involved with a club. The Centres are run in various locations within the Brumbies Rugby territory with details available on the team's website closer to the date.
July School Holiday Clinics
Held every July in Canberra, the Brumbies Development Clinics offer children aged between 9-14 the opportunity to participate in skill and game based activities. Coordinated by the Brumbies Development staff, with assistance from Brumbies Academy and Canberra Vikings players we aim to create a fun and enjoyable rugby experience for new and existing players.
Additionally it provides an opportunity for junior players to meet some of the Brumbies players depending upon availability.
Brumbies AIS Talent Development Camp
The development camp aims to identify players from Canberra and the surrounding region who may be eligible to join the Brumbies Academy. Individually, the camp aims to assist with the core skill development of players across all positions.
The camp is run for three days in late January at the Australian Institute Of Sport, Australia’s leading sporting facility. Participants must be at least 15 years of age and under the age of 18 at the time of the camp to be accepted with only 70 positions available. The Camp has already become an important element of the Brumbies talent identification process, with a number of players progressing to the Brumbies Academy Program.
Camp attendees have gone on to represent Australian Schoolboys, ACT Schoolboys, ACT U17s, Brumbies U16s and become members of the ARU Junior Gold Squad. The Camp is a great opportunity for players looking to start their journey along the natural pathways to a Brumbies Training and/or Super Rugby contract. Players like Ben Alexander, Pat McCabe and Andrew Smith all started with the Brumbies Academy.
